Not to mention the special glee I get from not paying my cable company. It's my own little payback for drilling straight through my exterior wall without discussing installation alternatives with me ten years ago.
Yeah, I average $40 in AppleTV downloads a month. The nice thing about that is that I have my favorite programs, commercial free, on my television, my iphone and my laptop. TV for home. iPhone for the gym (it's how I reward myself for cardio and stretch workouts to 45 minutes), and laptop for travel.
In addition to the convenience, I figure that having no cable television allows me to spend $90 less/month, which means $50 net savings ($600/year).
Thanks for the advice on "fake meats" Jen!! I'll watch out for filler ingredients! I'm with you on the soda front ... even though I'm considering a vegan diet it doesn't mean I'll be able to stay away from Coke Zero!!
The book I read was mostly nutritional science and not a diet book. It describes the physiology of a plant-based vs. animal based proteins and the effects on diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. It is so eye opening! I'll write an article about it as soon as I'm done.
